John Summers talks to Matthew Slate about how he became a fisherman in 1960 when he left school and worked for the owner Henry Goldsmith; buying his first boat at 20 years old; different types of fish caught in different areas; how fishing gear and equipment have changed over the years.

John's son, also named John, joins the conversation and the discussion covers, qualifications to become a skipper; cost of buying a boat with help from the Isle of Man Government and health and safety changes and licences.
