Date(s): 1959

Creator(s): unknown

Administration / Biographical History: Now the Masonic Hall on Stanley Road, Peel, the 400 seat Pavilion Cinema was opened in July 1923 by the Strand Cinema Company. In the 1930s a sound system was installed. The ground floor of the Pavilion operated as the cinema while the second floor operated as a ballroom. Like many of the other smaller cinemas on the Isle of Man, the Pavilion ended up in the possession of the Palace & Derby Castle Company during the Second World War. The Pavilion closed down in 1961 but Peel Masonic Club ended up purchasing the cinema and kept it running until 1968, after which it was converted into its current function as a Masonic Hall.
