Scope & Content: A manuscript copy of a letter sent by the Duke of Atholl, informing his Deputy Governors that he has heard from Bishop Wilson that there is a scarcity of corn on the island and the inhabitants face famine unless supplies are brought in; because there is a law prohibiting the shipping of corn to the island from Britain and Ireland, the Duke has arranged for supplies to be brought in from Holland, and states that this corn is to be sold at no more than cost and, if necessary, at less than cost, charging the difference to him; the date of the original letter is 24 February 1741.
