Scope & Content: A manuscript letter from Governor Lindesay, informing the Duke of Atholl that the tobacco trade on the Isle of Man has suffered as of late due to the bankruptcy of a number of local dealers, and as a consequnce has impacted on the island's income; Lindesay goes on to address several matters raised in the Duke's letter of 27 April [see MS 09707/2/93], concerning the discrepencies found in the Steward's accounts, and that he and other Manx officials think the Duke's lease with [Gabriel] Griffith for the mines is a good bargain; Lindesay concludes his letters by mentioning that his son and partners hope to obtain the contract for clothing Lord John Murray's new regiment [42nd Regiment of Foot].
