Scope & Content: A manuscript letter from the former Governor of the Isle of Man, James Murray, informing the Duke of Atholl that he received a letter from the Attorney General, William Christian, containing a copy of a petition from John Stevenson of Balladoole and a copy of Christian's answer to that petition [both documents present], which revolve around Stevenson's complaint against Christian's involvement in the legal case with Alice Stevenson [also Waters]; Murray supposes the letter was sent to him to prevent the Duke being 'imposed on by Colonel Stevenson and receiving a bad impression to the hurt of the Attorney's character.'
