Scope & Content: A manuscript letter from Governor Cochrane, informing the Duke of Atholl that they are preparing for the audit, which would have been completed by now if it wasn't for the Controller's [Comptroller, John Quayle the Elder] illness; he goes on to state that he encloses a petition, which requests protection for the sailors of the herring boats from being press-ganged by the Royal Navy; Cochrane also reports that the Duke's decree regarding the Balladoole case has arrived and the Attorney General [John Quayle the Younger] will take possession of the estate for the widow [Alice Stevenson] and her son.
