Scope & Content: A manuscript letter from the Duke of Atholl's Registrar of Appeals, Hugh Hamersley, asking His Grace whether he intends to visit London in the near future, so he may receive orders from him concerning the appointment of a new Commissioner of the Manx Appeals, now that the post is vacant [as William Murray, 1st Earl of Mansfield, has become Lord Chief Justice of the King's Bench]; Hamersley also reports that the solicitor, John Sharpe, has died.
