Scope & Content: A manuscript letter from John Quayle [the Elder], informing the Duke of Atholl that he has sent the 1748 revenue books to him via John Allen, who is [Gabriel] Griffith's agent for the mines on the Isle of Man, before mentioning other financial matters; Quayle then reports that there is 'a most promising appearance of a fine crop' and provides details about the herring fishing; he also informs the Duke that the mines are producing ore but the quantity is 'not considerable,' and that work has begun at Ballacorkish.
