Karoline sets out the context of internment, concentrating her focus on camps within the UK and Isle of Man where her ancestor Eugen Stern was interned (New Barracks, Lincoln, Huyton and Central Camp on Douglas Promenade, Isle of Man). She quotes from his correspondence throughout and mentions it in her concluding reflections about the impact of his relatively short-lived internment in 1940.
