'Notes on the Rushen Labour Party, 1919-1979'
Date(s): 1936-1979
Scope & Content: The file contains typescript notes with addendum by McFee penned in 1979 drawn from events and conversations which occured during his association with the Rushen Labour Party (RLP), the better to 'put on record the great contribution the RLP has made to the Manx Political scene'; also the text of his presidential address delivered to the Manx Labour Party at its annual conference in Peel in May 1936.
In the 1979 notes McFee traces the history of the RLP, naming individuals who made an impact and including profiles of the four representatives in the Keys and Tynwald Court 1919-1979: J R Corrin MBE JP, Richard Kneen JP, C C McFee and Eddie Lowey MHK. He makes special mention of Mrs Millicent Faragher who 'showed great character and bravery when vulgarly attacked by unkind criticism ... Her strong sense of loyalty and her policies were so revolutionary to the citizens of Castletown the old Metropolis, they were astounded at her affrontery to come into their territory, no matter how sincere. It was beyond their capacity to understand. One could say that Castletown politically at that time was 50 years behind in political thinking and theory'.
