Scope & Content: A manuscript letter from Lieutenant Governor Shaw, informing the Duke of Atholl that pistols, swords and belts have been ordered by the King for the Manx Troop, though only for 55 men, which appears to be regular strength for such units in England; Shaw goes on to state that he has asked Lord Amherst and the Secretary at War for the Manx Troop to be extended to 72 men, which was its strength in previous times, and requests the Duke's assistance on this matter; he also reports that the Captains of the Parishes have been asked to help recruit men for the Royal Manx Fencibles.
