Scope & Content: A manuscript letter from Lieutenant Governor Shaw, thanking the Duke of Atholl for getting the War Office to pass the claim for board and lodging allowances for the Royal Manx Fencibles; Shaw then reiterates the need for the northern and sourthern volunteer companies to have adjutants; he also reports on the continued distress on the island, as a consequence of the high price of corn, which is due to the avarice of the merchants rather than to an actual shortage of grain.
