Scope & Content: A manuscript letter from Lieutenant Governor Shaw to the Duke of Atholl, enclosing a copy of a letter, original dated 4 June, from Charles Philip Yorke at the War Office, stating that the delay in disbanding the 1st Royal Manx Fencibles has caused the British government unnecessary expense, and that Shaw is to disband them no later than one day after receiving this letter; Shaw's own to the Duke points out the War Office's lack of understanding of the conditions on the Isle of Man and the issue of the clothing allowance.
