Scope & Content: A manuscript copy of a letter sent by Robert Heywood to Peter John Heywood, enclosing a letter from Thomas Fargher [not present], which announces the death of The Reverend Jack Christian and requests that Christian's son succeed to the living [Vicarage of Marown?]; Heywood also encloses a copy of John Quayle [the Younger's] commission [as the Duke's Steward; not present]; he also sends a copy of Quayle's lease of the Forester's Lodge, which Quayle appears to be paying a reduced rent of £2 9s. instead of the £6 or £7 that the property is valued; Heywood also reports that Lieutenant Governor Dawson is entirely disregarding game laws and is issuing licences himself, and that Dawson is also having issues raising three companies of troops; original 2 October 1779.
