Scope & Content: A manuscript copy of a letter sent by Robert Heywood to his brother, Peter, advising the latter that the news of the defeat of the Duke of Atholl's Bill to Parliament, regarding His Grace's rights on the Isle of Man, has left the country people 'much cast down;' he goes on to state that it is a common expression on the isle that Messrs. Taubman, Quayle and the rest 'will not leave the Duke a bird's nest in the island by the time they have done with him;' original dated 16 July 1781.
