Scope & Content: A manuscript copy of a precept issued to the Coroner of Glenfaba by the Duke of Atholl, as Governor, informing the Coroner that a Court of Tynwald is to be assembled on 24 December for the purpose of considering a petition presented to the Duke, 'complaining of the great injuries sustained by persons engaged in agricultural pursuits in [the Isle of Man] from the practice of brewing ale and beer from sugar and molasses and praying that such practices may for the future be inhibited by a legislative Act;' the Coroner is ordered to inform members of the House of Keys within their sheading of their required attendance at this meeting; original precept dated 20 December 1822.
