'Kirby, Braddan. A Manx Mansion & its Families'
Date(s): December 1982
Creator(s): Kenyon, John Stowell
Scope & Content: Typescript text of address delivered to the Isle of Man Family History Society. In a prologue Stowell notes that his original talk to Friends of the Manx Museum was made possible by his connection to Mrs Dorothy Drinkwater 'whom I first knew as a small boy of 9 when, in 1917, she had come straight from university to fill the place of a young schoolmaster called up for the final battles of the Great War. 60 years later she confessed that she had been terrified of the 60 or so small boys at the Prep School concerned, but added that there were two towards she felt a measure of affection. One was "Tubby" Walls, later to give his name to a certain ice-cream. The other she nicknamed "The Shrimp". That was me!'.
