Scope & Content: The vessel was moored in Ramsey every winter. It was owned by a well known Lancashire family.

A John Spitty can be found in the 1871 census at 7 Strand Street, Maughold (Mariner). The 1881 and 1891 census records William Spitty (probably his nephew) as a Master mariner from Essex.
