Date(s): late 20th century
Creator(s): Rotary Club of Ramsey
Scope & Content: Tyepscript covering letter on letterheaded paper. Hartley (President of the Rotary Club of Ramsey) notes that his club is well known as a supporter of many charitable causes, having raised £640 recently to help revive the Police Court Mission. He introduces another initiative explaining, 'The Club wishes to extend its capacity for Community Service work by raising a Local Disaster Fund. We should like to be in a position to offer meaningful and immediate help in cases of unforeseen or other traumatic misfortune affecting one person or many, according to the circumstances. It is intended that the Fund will be used only for the relief of hardship experienced within the Island itself.'
Details of a sponsored walk on Sunday 7 April 1974 to raise funds are set out, the target being £2,000. Hartley encourages the reader to encourage people within their organisation to participate in the walk and encloses some sponsors' sheets (not present).
