Scope & Content: Corporal Albert Savage, 2nd battalion New Zealand Wellington Regiment. From Bay of Plenty, New Zealand. His mother had a Maori first name, so he was at least half Maori. His service record states hair: black, eyes: brown, complexion: dark. He was wounded twice. After the second time, he was sent on furlough to England. The Manx newspapers reported a number of Australian and New Zealand soldiers on furlough visiting the Island in the early part of 1918, which coincides. He was killed in action on 25 August 1918, aged 21.
