'The Queen’s Silver Jubilee Celebrations on Loch Promenade
GLORIOUS WEATHER – PLENTY OF FOOD – STREET PARTIES & CELEBRATING GALORE.
The Island has celebrated the Queen’s Silver Jubilee in grand style. Almost everywhere in the Island last weekend there were open-air parties, fancy dress parades, children’s sports – and they were all blessed with brilliant sunshine and temperatures into their mid-60s.
Distribution of the first batch of over 15,000 commemorative mugs which are to be issued to youngsters and some of the older residents began on Monday.' (Friday 29 May 1977, Isle of Man Examiner)
