Scope & Content: A manuscript copy of a letter sent by the Duke of Atholl, which acknowledges receipt of Governor Lindesay's letters numbered 15 and 16 [see MS 09707/2/223 and 228], before moving on to the main topic of the letter, which centres around the detainment of the crewmembers from the sloop-of-war, 'Wolfe;' the Duke states that he hopes that the 'Wolfe' has acted without orders from the Admiralty, and that he is in correspondence with the Solicitor General [William Murray, 1st Earl of Mansfield] on this matter; in the meantime, His Grace orders that the boat's crew continue to be detained.
