Scope & Content: A manuscript letter from Governor Cochrane, informing the Duke of Atholl that [John Quayle the Elder] has been unable to leave the island to deliver the audit of the accounts, for Michaelmas 1752 to Michaelmas 1754, due to the extremely bad weather; he goes on to state that the finances are low, but in spring more remittances should be able to be sent, provided bills can be found; the remainder of the letter centres on new coinage for the island, with Cochrane enclosing a copy of a request from the Deemsters, officers, and the House of Keys for the coining of £400 in brass money.
