Scope & Content: A manuscript letter from Governor Cochrane, informing the Duke of Atholl of the opposition to the tithes being sold, and that he has had to hire Manx people to speak with the other inhabitants to 'remove the great difficultys' raised by this matter; Cochrane goes on to advise the Duke that the sale of the tithes should begin with the small Parish of Kirk Santan, and has spoken to Captain Clucas of that parish, with the promise of a reward for his co-operation; the letter concludes with the news that Cochrane has handed over £1500 to Captain Lace to be exchanged at Liverpool.
