Stained glass window from Glen Falcon House

Description: Hugh Mackay Baillie Scott was born in Ramsgate in 1865 and trained as an architect. After his marriage in 1889 he moved to the Isle of Man, where he lived until 1901. Baillie Scott practiced as an architect and a number of the buildings which he designed are still extant, but he was also interested in interior design and was a contemporary of Rennie Mackintosh. Later he worked with Archibald Knox and was influential in the Art Nouveau movement. This stained glass window came from Glen Falcon House, which was purchased from the Okell Trustees in 1948 and demolished shortly afterwards to facilitate the widening of Broadway. Stained glass window: 6-light window with leaded pattern including some coloured (mainly rich blue and green) glass designed by Baillie Scott and includes his typical birds. 70 inch x 44 1/2 inch overall. From Glen Falcon House, which was purchased from the Okell Trustees in 1948 and demolished shortly afterwards to facilitate the widening of Broadway.
