Located half a mile off the southern tip of the Isle of Man, the Calf of Man is a small island extending to approximately 600 acres and is in the care of Manx National Heritage. A Nature Reserve and Bird Observatory, the Calf is separated from the mainland of the Isle of Man by the Sound. Technically a strait, the Sound is about 700 metres wide and contains the small islet of Kitterland, home to a large seal colony.

Many coach tours call at the Sound 'Calf of Man' in their itinerary.
