Bugle from Le Havre

Description: Musical instrument. This bugle is made of brass, and wrapped with chords ending in red, white and blue tassles. It is stamped with makers details. It was was given to the donor's father, Phillip James Bridson, Captain of the IOMSPCo vessel 'Viking', by a French soldier during the evacuation of Le Havre in 1940, following the fall of France to the invading German army. The French soldier had used it to sound 'Retreat' and was ashamed of it.
