St John's Sword

Date made: Viking: 800-1265

Description: The hilt, curved guards, wooden grip and upper portion of blade found on donor's property whilst gravel-digging. The pommel and lower guard show traces of silver decoration.

A battle-axe, stirrups and a "handful" of beads were also reportedly found, but are now lost.

Also known as King Orry's Grave sword.

Measurements: 333mm x 100mm x 32 mm
