Description: The drawing depicts a stone similar in shape to a stool with a flat top and four legs. On the back of the drawing is written: 'This stone is near Kirk Michael Churchyard, in Isle of Man______'.
Moses Griffith (1749-1819) was a Welsh draughtsman, engraver and water colourist. In 1769 he entered the service of Thomas Pennant of Downing, Flintshire (antiquary and natural historian). Griffiths provided illustrations to most of Pennant's books. In 1774 Griffith made a tour of the Isle of Man with Thomas Pennant and Captain Francis Grose (antiquary and topographical draughtsman).
