Watch Chain

Description: Steel watch chain which belonged to the donor's grandfather James Christian, Highway Surveyor Crosby. circa 1878.
A watch chain is attached to a pocket watch, serving both as an ornament and, when passed through a buttonhole in a waistcoat or other garment , as a guard against loss of the watch.
