Sulby Glen
Date made: n.d.
Description: "The bridge of Sulby may be put down as a point of much interest to the tourist; for be he a geologist, antiquary, historian, or merely a lover of the picturesque, he will here find some object to interest and instruct him." (Dr Robert Paterson, Manx Antiquities, 1863, M 02321)
The painting is from a series of works by Mrs Lucy Emma Lynam, born 1834. It is thought that Lucy Emma Lynam painted the works while staying with her daughter and son-in-law on the Isle of Man. Her daughter, also called Lucy Emma, married a Manxman Sidney Alfred Pizey Kermode, who was the Reverend of Onchan (1862-1925).
