Description: “With respect to the manners of the people I have observed great courtesy on the roads and in the cottages, when called upon for any service - a Christian simplicity and kindness." (Dorothy Wordsworth, Journal of a Tour in the Isle of Man, 15th July 1828, M 10561)

Miss Georgina Gore Currie was the niece of Horatio Powys, Bishop of Sodor and Man from 1854 to 1877. Georgina stayed with the Bishop’s family at their residence, Bishopscourt, north of Kirk Michael. During her time on the Isle of Man, Georgina sketched and painted many Manx scenes including Bishopscourt and its gardens.
