Balladoole Viking Boat Burial Shield Boss

Description: The iron boss (hand-grip is 1966-0372/02b) of a shield, the wood has perished. This shield boss has a conical shape and an unusual flange and fixing arrangemen, apparently piercing the shield wood to be fixed at the back.
