Balladoole Viking Boat Burial Horse Bridle Strap-mount

Date made: Viking

Description: Two strips of sheet metal, folded to hold leather straps, secured by dome-headed rivets (one dome is missing). Around each rivet are incised circles and along the length, the pattern is interlace on a cross-hatched background within a double-border. One strap-mount has light decoration on the back. In the centre is a shaped cast bronze loop with animal heads top and bottom, with incised detail but with their snouts broken off. Similar to 1966-0372/05d, but less well-preserved. Associated with 1966-0372/05b - /05q.
