Cronk Mooar Viking Burial Spearhead

Date made: Viking

Description: Although very corroded, the socket is not split and is circular in section. There is a copper alloy bar near the base, probably to help secure the socket to the now-decayed wooden shaft. There are sharp shoulders to the blade.

Spearheads such as this were used as thrusting weapons rather than for throwing.
