Description: “King William's College presented a noble feature in the landscape and the slight shelter made upon the spot is doubly valuable since the devouring elements have committed such devastation.” (Illustrated account of Mrs Emma Cram's 1842 visit to the Isle of Man, MS 13029)

A pencil sketch from the old family sketch book of Sir Arnold Wilson, the elder son of Canon J.M. Wilson. The artist was Mrs Mary Anne Goodman, an aunt of Canon Wilson, on his mother's side. Her maiden name was Pears. The sketches were made round about 1835, when Sir Arnold's grandfather, the Reverend Edward Wilson, was Principle of King William's College.
