Description: “We returned to Port Iron [Port Erin] where we partook of a little refreshment, but let not the visitor expect to meet with delicacies here. With the exception of fish, which is thought to excel any on the coast, there is nothing good to be had.” (Samuel Dukinfield Swarbreck, Tour through the Isle of Man by Captain William Latham, July 1815, M 07398)

A pencil sketch from the old family sketch book of Sir Arnold Wilson, the elder son of Canon J.M. Wilson. The artist was Mrs Mary Anne Goodman, an aunt of Canon Wilson, on his mother's side. Her maiden name was Pears. The sketches were made round about 1835, when Sir Arnold's grandfather, the Reverend Edward Wilson, was Principle of King William's College.
