Description: “About two miles nearer Peel is the Tynwald Hill, a Danish Barrow of a conic shape and beautiful structure; which, considering its ancient dignity and importance, we regarded with some degree of enthusiastic reverence…here, in 1417, Sir John Stanley, King and Lord of Man, convened the whole body of the people, to witness the first promulgation of the laws.” (David Robertson, A Tour Through The Isle of Man, 1794, M 01360)
