Description: A framed charcoal sketch portrait of Hall Caine aboard the Ben my Chree. It is signed indistinctly, and noted 'Hall Caine aboard the Ben My Chree last summer 1894'. Around this time, Hall Caine had rented Greeba Castle for six months, for the purposes of writing.
He wrote a guidebook entitled 'The Little Man Island: Scenes and Specimen Days in the Isle of Man', published by the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company for the 1894 tourist season. It comprises a mixture of descriptions, pictures and advertising.
