Biography: First World War Soldier. 'No. 8725. Private. 2 K.O.R. Lancaster Regt. (King's Own Royal Lancaster Regiment). Our postman. reservest (sic). In France early. Reported killed on Oct 20/22. Papers signed and money drawn. In Mar. reported "not killed" & serving with his unit. His pay comes. but no word can be obtained from him by his people. R. Taubman says he was with him when he was killed - Moore says he is alive. What has happened? Barrack St Class and Club. Brother of W.A & Ed. Letters returned June 7. Nothing known Aug 5. Sept 27.'
