Biography: First World War Soldier. 'No. 9896. Private. 7 N Staffordshire Regiment. Son of Mrs Abbott who has not heard from him for years. Formerly in S Staffordshire. Served in India. Have heard. from Regt. Officer that he had enlisted afresh. Was said to be in Tidworth on Nov. 27. 1914. Letter was returned. Wrote for fresh information to R. Records, March. 24. 1915. Received answer that no address could be sent but that a letter sent to O.C. (Ordnance Corps) Regimental Records would be forwarded. During April his mother got in touch with him through another T H Abbott whose number is as above. Our man is Corporal and is making an allottment to his mother. Letter to mother late in May. Whitburn Bay. June 14. Letter to B H K Sept. Gone to Dardanelles Oct. Dec. 10 Corporal. 39 Brigade 13 Division. Medit. Exp. Force (Mediterranean Expeditionary Force). Been sick. Well again Nov. 1916.
