Biography: Junior - Guzzi
Age 30, Duilio Agostini is a native of Mandello del Lario, Italy - where Guzzis are made. He was reared in a 'Guzzi' atmosphere for at fourteen years old he attended a special school run by the factory, and at sixteen started in the works. He later transferred to the road testing department, and is now a tester with 'Experimental'.
He began racing in 1950 on a 500 c.c. Guzzi 'Dandolini' owned by a friend - and began well by winning his first event, a novices' race.
Duilio had his first factory ride late in 1953, when he was placed third in the 350 c.c. Italian Grand Prix, and a year later he was a full-time member of the works team, finishing the season as 250 c.c. Champion of Italy. He was a reserve rider during the 1954 practices, but his first real race in the Island was the 1955 Junior, in which he was eighth at 87.84 m.p.h.
