Douglas Allen
Record type: Motorsport Biographies
Biography: 125 c.c. Mondial
Age 21, Douglas Allen is a road transport engineer and comes from Hilton, Derby. This is his first T.T., but he is well-known on his Mondial on the short-circuits and has had wins in the Ultra-lightweight classes at Osmaston and Alton Towers, his first success being at Osmaston in 1953.
His mount, incidentally, is a 1953 model, and was ridden into seventh place in that year's 125 c.c. T.T. by A.A. Fenn. Last year Allen had a sixth and a seventh at Oulton Park, and this season he has been sixth at Oulton Park and third at Alton Towers. His hobby is the restoration of vintage and veteran motor cycles, and he is, in fact, riding a 2 h.p. 1910 Humber in this year's Vintage M.C.C. T.T. Rally.
