J. Bacon
Record type: Motorsport Biographies
Biography: Age 26, John Bacon is a dental technician, and comes from Woking, Surrey. He started racing two years ago, and has ridden a 175 c.c. Ducati at various short circuits, finishing several times within the first six of the 200 c.c. classes at Brands Hatch and Crystal Palace.
His machine is the latest of the 250 c.c. "Petty-Nortons," similiar to the one which Ray Petty himself used to ride in the T.T. It has a lightened Manx frame and shortened front forks, with a double leading shoe front brake and a floating rear brake; the petrol tank holds six gallons, which will enable the lightweight race to be completed without stopping to refuel. John's hobbies (when time permits) are body building and physical training, sailing, flying, swimming, etc. He is entered by Ray Petty, of Farnborough, Hants. (TT Special, 13 June 1960, p.8.)
