Biography: Age 37, a motor agent of Dublin, Manliff Barrington has been riding in the T.T. since 1935, when he finished eleventh in the Senior on a Vincent H.R.D. In 1937 he was fifteenth in the Junior on a Norton and in the same year won the Dublin 100 (500 c.c. class) with his Vincent H.R.D. He is holder of the Phoenix Park lap record at 86.50 m.p.h. made in the 1938 with the big Vincent H.R.D.
In 1947, as everyone will remember, he won the Lightweight on a Guzzi at 73.22 m.p.h.
Last year, he rode a Norton in the Junior, but retired on the third lap. In the Lightweight, again Guzzi-mounted, he led for the first two laps, only to retire at Kirk Michael on the third. He came back into his form last month, however, to win the 500 c.c. class of the Leinster "200" on a Norton at 79 m.p.h.
Hobbies: Shooting and golf.

Age 35, a motor agent in Dublin, and riding as Stanley Woods’ entry. Was a Captain in the Transport Section of the Eire Defence Forces during the war. Hobbies, shooting, golf and fishing.
Dublin was the scene of his first successes – amongst other things he won the Dublin University Hill Climb, both 500 and 350 classes, in 1933. Made his first appearance in the Island in 1935, when he collected a bronze replica for finishing 11th in the Senior on a Vincent-H.R.D.-J.A.P. In 1937 he finished 15th in the Junior on a Norton and the same year won the Dublin 100 (500 c.c. class) with a Vincent-H.R.D., while in 1938 he came second in the same event with a 1,000 c.c. model of the same marque. He is holder of the Phoenix Park lap record at 86 ½ m.p.h., made in 1938 with the big Vincent-H.R.D

Last year, on a Norton, he finished eighteenth in the Junior T.T. (first-class replica) at 78.08 m.p.h., and on the following Friday won the Lightweight T.T., again on a Guzzi, at 77.99 m.p.h., beating Tommy Wood on a similar machine by just over 12 secs.
