Record type: Motorsport Biographies

Biography: Senior - Norton
Lightweight - Guzzi

Age 49, Wilf Billington a Didsbury, Manchester, motor trader, has 16 years racing experience, much of it on sand. He competed in the Lightweight T.T. last year, and finished 13th on his Guzzi. Being unlucky in the ballot robbed him of a ride over the Island course in 1950, but remembers the year with good will for he then won his most cherished prize – the Jack Moore Memorial Trophy, awarded by the Chester Club. Jack Moore, who was killed in the 1938 T.T., was a great friend of his.

In 1949 Wilf won a bronze replica in the Junior T.T., and riding a Guzzi, he finished third in the 250 class of the Leinster “200”, first in the Skerries “100”, and third in the Ulster Grand Prix, winning the class handicap.

During his earlier racing days, he four times won the Welsh Grand Prix and three times the Yorkshire Championship. He was a well know figure at Southport, Wallasey and Hartlepool. He is his own entrant.
