Florian Camathias
Record type: Motorsport Biographies
Biography: Mounts: Lightweight – N.S.U.
Sidecar – B.M.W.
Florian Camathias comes from Montreux, in Switzerland, where he is a motorcycle mechanic. He states that his age is 1924 which should surely give the A.C.U. cause to think, for whilst the Regulations state that all "drivers must be male persons over 18 years of age", there is no restriction as to how much over 18 such male drivers may be. However, "1924'' probably refers to the date of birth, rather than age, so we assume that he is 33.
Florian has had many successes in the last three years. In 1955, for example, he broke 19 World’s records at Montlhery track, Paris, whilst last year he collected “9 premiers prix internationaux” and this year a couple more “premiers prix”.
He is his own entrant for both this year’s races; his B.M.W. is a 1956 “ex-works” machine, and his N.S.U. a “Sports Max de course”.
Hobby: Ski-ing.
