Harry Clift
Record type: Motorsport Biographies
Biography: Mounts: Senior – Norton
Junior – Norton
Aged 33 years, come from Boroughbridge, Yorks., and is in business as a road transport contractor.
Clift was born in Nova Scotia, and says he only saw one motor cycle in his life before he came to England in 1925. But he has been riding in trials and races since the age of 17, and says that he has “fallen off at Donington more times than anyone else, I think. Ask Fred Craner!”
But he has also “stayed on” to good effect at Donington and has won several replicas for events there. Has a pronounced enthusiasm for the rough stuff; he rode in the Scott Trial in 1930 and in his own words “nearly drowned, but have been immune to severe courses ever since.” Previous T.T. entries were in 1937 and 1938, when he rode Nortons as a private entrant.
His entrants in the Junior and Senior are Eleanor Motors, of London E.8.
