W. G. Dehany is one of the oldest competitors, being 52. He is a motor agent and repairer and comes from Wallasey. He started racing way back in 1919 at New Brighton and gained experience at various sand courses and short circuits. Amongst his more recent successes, he won the 250 class of the 1948 Enniskillen “100” and the same year was second in the Ulster Grand Prix, 250 class. He also rode in the Isle of Man in 1948 and was second in the Lightweight Clubman 's T.T., riding an Excelsior. This year he has secured fourth place in the North-West “200.”
He is entered by Bill Webster, of Crewe, and the Enfield is basically a 150 o.h.v. model but with very much modified engine internals, swinging arm rear suspension, telescopic forks, etc.
