Age 26, a farmer from Comber, Co. Down, Robert Ferguson has rapidly come to the fore-front in Irish racing. He was winner of the Temple “100! In 1953, on his A.J.S., and in 1954, on the same machine, went on to collect silverware by the bag-full!

Keeping to the 350 c.c. class, he won the Cookstown “100” (setting up a record lap) and Carrowdore “100” (with another record lap).

He was second in the Mid-Antrim “150” and the Munster “100”, and also in the Phoenix Park races in Dublin. Earlier, in the Ulster Grand Prix, he was 12th.

In 1955 he won the 350 c.c. “Mid Antim 150” and was third on general handicap. In the “Temple 100” he was second on handicap, and set up a new 350 c.c. lap record. He was 19th in the Ulster Grand Prix and 38th in the Junior T.T. Last year he won a Silver Replica in the Senior T.T. by finishing 26th at 85.69 m.p.h.

Keeping to the 350 cc class, he won the Cookstown 100 (setting up a record lap) and Carrowdore 100 (with another record lap). He was second in the Mid-Antrim 150 and the Munster 100 and also in the Phoenix Park races in Dublin. Earlier, in the Ulster Grand Prix, he was 12th.

In 1955 he won the 350 cc 'Mid Antrim 150' and was third on general handicap. In the Temple 100 he was second on handicap, and set up a new 350 cc lap record. He was 19th in the Ulster Grand Prix and 38th in the Junior TT. In 1956 he won a Silver Replica in the Senior TT by finishing 26th at 85.69 mph.

He was unlucky in the TT last year, when he retired in both the Junior and Senior races, but later in the month he was second in the 500 cc class of the Killinchy 150 (over the Dundrod circuit) and in July won the 500 cc class of the Skerries 100. Last April he won the same class of the Irish Tanderagee 100. He is entered for this year's races by Jenkin and Purser Ltd.
